Job Description Summary
Alliance Steel is a growing full-service steel processing company diversifying into steel tubing production. We seek a first-shift Mill Operator for our Gary, IN location to oversee our new tube-making equipment. The Mill Operator will manage daily production, oversee quality, and track daily output.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adherence to Alliance Steel’s company rules, safety policies, and housekeeping regulations.
- Understanding and adherence to Alliance Steel’s mission statement, values, and quality guidelines.
- Ability to follow and execute the production schedule.
- Follow qualitative procedures so the product can be tested and documented during production.
- Coordinate with and direct all other tube mill department associates regarding the review and sequencing of work orders to be produced.
Operating Duties:
- Operate tube mill drives, high-frequency welder, and mill ancillary systems (coolants, lubricants, OD scarfing, etc.) to ensure optimal performance and run speeds. Exceptions to this may include required adjustments for safety, quality, or operating issues necessitating stoppage or slowing of the process for resolution.
- Choose and install the correct, consumable supplies, such as impeders and high-frequency work coils, then locate them in their correct positions to maximize HF welder efficiency. Perform safety training, audits, and daily coaching so our team is safe and accident-free.
- Monitor the tube-making process – balancing motors, ensuring HF welder operates at maximum efficiency; mill coolants are on and at correct incoming temperatures; lubricating systems are on and operating at correct flow rates.
- Determine the correct OD scarfing tools to remove the weld bead properly.
- Lead daily housekeeping activities and allocate team members equally and appropriately to ensure continuing improvement towards a world-class appearance and maintain the daily desired state.
- Initiate and lead mill sizing changes. Adjust tooling according to qualitative requirements.
- Forward-looking, set up, and operating line inspection devices such as weld alignment, Eddy Current testing, and inkjet (stenciling) equipment.
Supervisor Requirements:
- As directed by the Plant Manager, manage and oversee assigned personnel. Make decisions in accordance with the organization’s policies, handbook, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees and planning, assigning, and directing their work. This also includes appraising employees’ performance, rewarding them, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma and 3–5 years experience in tube manufacturing.

Job Summary:
Participate in the leadership and oversight of the human resources function and employee
engagement activities, providing management teams with crucial insight into the company’s team
members and impacts on the company culture.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Embody the company’s Core Focus and Core Values
- Develop and lead the Human Resources Department
- Act as a liaison between company leadership, management teams, and team members
- Coordinate with the operations and plant teams on safety issues and OSHA requirements
- Plan, implemented, and track training and development plans for individual team members
- Oversee the hiring process at all levels to include recruiting, community engagement (i.e., schools,
- job fairs, apprenticeships, training grants, etc.), compatibility testing (i.e., Omnia, Culture Index, etc.),
- Job descriptions and onboarding
- Develop a calendar for consistent employee meetings, events, surveys, and announcements.
- Ensure compliance with DOL and IRS regulations.
- Review, update, and manage the handbook to ensure company rules are enforced, including
- appropriate disciplinary action
- Monitor compensation and benefit offerings to ensure a competitive local and industry environment
- Develop and manage a company-wide performance evaluation process
- Organize implementation and ongoing activities related to EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System)

Job Description Summary:
We seek a qualified, experienced individual to join our company as an Electronic Automation Technician. As part of our team, you will install, maintain, and replace automation systems throughout production. You will also troubleshoot parts, including motion sensors, control components, photosensors, and other vital technology. In addition to maintaining smooth operations, you will be a subject matter expert (SME) for leadership and key decision-makers, delivering reports on current automation capabilities and future opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and replace automation systems at key points in the production process
- Troubleshoot non-functioning components, including servos, sensors, and control components
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance
- Maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems
- Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality
- Must adhere to standard safety regulations
- Candidate must possess strong electrical knowledge and strong mechanical skills
- Experience in working with computer-controlled machines, production, and packaging
- Autonomous, reliable, and solution-oriented method of working, a strong sense of responsibility, and excellent communication skills
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen/physical and background check
